  • Position: Full Time, Permanent – Security Dispatcher
  • Reporting to: Site Supervisor
  • Location: George Brown College – Various Campuses
  • Schedule: 12 hours Continental Days Schedule
  • Hours: 36 to 48 hours per week or 84 hours biweekly
  • Salary: $18 per hour

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Minimum 1 year of Security Guard or Dispatcher experience in educational institutes, Mall, or related field experience is a must
  • Be able to keep an open and objective mind, remembering that residents and staff have a diverse background
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong grip on Computer application skills – MS Office suite, CCTV monitoring
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Conflict Resolution Skills
  • Knowledge and Application of Section 494(c) of the Canadian Criminal Code: Trespass to Property Act, and other related legislation
  • Must be physically capable of performing ALL duties (including being able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time)

Major Responsibilities:

  • Actively Monitoring CCTV surveillance systems
  • Answer all incoming security telephone lines including the complex emergency telephone line.
  • Dispatch Security Guards to incidents, requests for assistance, emergencies, etc. Log details of radio transmission, telephone calls and verbal instructions
  • Maintaining communications at all times with fellow Supervisors, Security Guards, Management, Customer Service and Maintenance staff.
  • Maintain control of access to and from the property
  • Log details of radio transmission, telephone calls and verbal instructions
  • Direct backup support as necessary
  • Inform management of major incidents
  • Ensure that security operations occur consistent with policy and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Enthusiastically conducts proactive patrols to build relationships with students, address policy breeches, and note facility concerns.
  • Ability to de-escalate a crisis situation, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including police, fire and paramedic resources.
  • Be able to facilitate an environment that allows students to meet their academic goals.
  • Respond to all emergency response needs such as providing first aid, missing persons, etc.
